Carlos began his safety career as aUnion shop stewardin Avenel, NJ. He was the VPP Committee Chairman for Kama Corporation in Avenel, NJ and helped lead the effort to attain VPP Star status in 2001. He attended his first National VPPPA Conference in Orlando, Florida in 2002 as a presenter. This led shortly to being hired as a Safety Coordinator by Sherwin Williams at their Baltimore Plant in 2003. He was promoted to Safety Manager in 2006 and moved to Reno working at the Sierra Nevada DSC & Pacific Region CTS. In 2008 the site became Nevada's 8th VPP Star site and was recertified in 2011. He is currently the EHS Manager &has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Safety Engineering, and an OSHA 501 Trainer certificate. He enjoys mentoring and is proud to have mentored his first site to VPP Star status in Nevada in 2011.He has served on the Board of Directors since 2010 and is also a member of the National VPPPA Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee. Carlos currently resides in Reno, Nevadawith his wife Diane and three children - Carlos Jr., Melissa and Alex and our dog, Roxie.
